Action Alert! Attend Conroe ISD Level 3 Hearing on Gender Fluidity Book
April 9, 2024 | Conroe, TX
Conroe ISD Level 3 Hearing for Lily and Dunkin, by Donna Gephart, a book still available to 7th and 8th graders
Please attend this hearing to show that our community does not agree with having gender fluidity (gender affirming surgeries, hormone blockers) information via books, scholastics, or other materials given to minors!
The school board uses community standards as a criteria for decision making. If we have a large group attend, it will be difficult for them not to vote to remove this harmful book.
When: Tuesday, April 16 – begins at 6 pm sharp
Where: Deane L. Sadler Administration/Technology Center, inside Auditorium, 3205 West Davis Street (Highway 105 west), Conroe, TX 77304
What to wear: A RED shirt
Where to sit: With other RED shirt folks
The Level 3 Hearing will be at the end of the meeting, which could potentially run late. Attending for any amount of time is helpful, but if you are able to stay, this would be supportive and reassuring to the citizen bringing this book before the board.
SIGN UP TO TESTIFY
If you feel led to speak, visit: https://www.conroeisd.net/superintendent-board-of-trustees/citizen-participation/
Sign up before 3 pm on the day of the board meeting (April 16). Please attend even if you’re not speaking so board members can see our large group in RED shirts and to clap for speakers you agree with - they need our support!
PROBLEMS WITH THE BOOK, LILY AND DUNKIN
Harmful information for minors – Students’ minds are like sponges soaking up information. Their brains are not developed fully, and they are not able to make solid analytical decisions, especially about having body parts removed and undergoing numerous, dangerous, and untested medical treatments, hormone blockers, and surgeries.
Gender surgeries are child abuse – Ken Paxton, Texas Attorney General, has issued an opinion declaring that gender surgeries and hormone treatments constitute child abuse.
Hormone blockers are not FDA-approved treatment – Hormone blockers are NOT FDA-approved to be used in minors for gender fluidity.
Suicide rates increase after surgeries – Suicide rates for females after having a gender transitioning surgery doubled per the AUA Journal of Urology.
Horrible lifelong adverse events – Adverse events after surgery include lifelong bleeding at surgery site and incontinence (a diaper needed), brittle bones, and chronic UTIs, to name a few.

Conroe ISD should not have books suggesting gender fluidity to minors in any of their schools. This is giving minors who are experiencing the mental health issues of being bullied, not fitting in at their school, problems at home, learning disabilities, or other issues the false hope that changing their gender will alleviate ALL of their problems and make life perfect for them.
TAKE ACTION
Children in CISD and all over our nation need us to stand in the gap for them. This is an opportunity to stand up as citizens to make our voices heard.
1) Please be in prayer about the hearing on April 16.
2) Sign up to testify if you feel led. (See above for instructions.) You can read from the book, cite studies, or speak from your heart. If you prefer not to speak, simply attending in a RED shirt will make a quiet, encouraging impact.
3) Send the board members an email about your concerns.
