Public Hearing: Select Committee on Education, July 11-12

Although a promised special session on School Choice has yet to be called by Governor Greg Abbott, public hearings on education that could include discussions on the topic are set to begin this week. 

On Tuesday, July 11 at 10 a.m. and Wednesday, July 12 at 9 a.m., in room JHR 140, a Select Committee on Educational Opportunity and Enrichment will hold a public hearing and accept testimony on the following items.  According to Alan Parker of The Justice Foundation, School Choice could be discussed under each category.

•    Ensuring all Texas youth enjoy equal educational opportunity and the freedom to obtain a quality education, regardless of circumstance

•    Improving outcomes for Texas public school students and meaningfully supporting educators and educational institutions

•    Modernizing assessment and accountability measures for Texas schools educating K-12 students

 

Public Comments

Public comments will be accepted until July 17, 2023 on the following:

•    Educational opportunity & freedom to obtain a quality education

•    Improving student outcomes, supporting educators & institutions

•    Modernizing assessment and accountability measures for Texas schools
