Call to Action! Attend hearing in support of SB 14, a Child Gender Modification bill

On Thursday, March 16, the Texas Senate will hold a hearing to discuss SB 14, authored by Senator Donna Campbell (R, SD-25) of New Braunfels, that will ban the practice of child gender modification in this state. Co-authors include Montgomery County Senators Lois Kolkhorst (R, SD-18) and Paul Bettencourt (R, SD-7).
The hearing will be conducted by the Senate State Affairs Committee and will begin at 9:30 a.m. in the Senate chamber. Anyone with any interest in this bill, especially those with experience in the matter, are urged to attend and sign up to testify.
Some of the bill’s language:
“Health care providers and/or physicians may not knowingly perform a surgery to sterilize a child and may not dispense any prescription drugs that induce transient or permanent infertility.”
"This will not apply to treatments, with parental approval, for a child born with verifiable genetic disorders of sex development."
"The Attorney General may bring action to enforce this subchapter to anyone who violates it."
"The commission may not provide Medicaid reimbursement, child health plans may not provide reimbursement and medical assistance programs may not provide reimbursement for services prohibited in Section 161.702 that are intended to transition a child's biological sex as determined by the child's sex organs, chromosomes and endogenous profiles.”
