Trump Indictment: The Return of The King!

On Tuesday, June 13, President Donald Trump appeared in a Miami courtroom and pleaded “Not Guilty” to 37 felony counts related to his handling of classified documents. For each of the 37 charges, President Trump could receive a $250,000 fine and from five to 20 years in prison. This is the first federal prosecution in American history of a former President who also just happens to be a current presidential candidate.
The federal prosecutors for this case, who are led by Special Council Jack Smith, have also named Trump’s personal aide, Walt Nauta, as a co-defendant in the case. Prosecutors claim that Nauta, a 40-year U.S. Navy veteran, withheld information and made false statements to prosecutors for the purpose of protecting President Trump.
Claims in the indictment
The indictment claims that none of the documents in question were stored in a Sensitive Compartmented Information Facility (SCIF) as is required for the storage of classified documents, and President Trump is also alleged to have shared information from some of those documents with two people who were not authorized to have that information.
At the press conference to announce the 29-page, 37-count indictment, Special Council Jack Smith declared, “We have one set of laws in this country and they apply to everyone.”
Tucker Carlson shared his thoughts on Twitter, saying that the indictment “has been inevitable since February 16, 2016.” He went on to explain that when President Trump claimed there were “no weapons of mass destruction,” he made enemies of the government establishment by calling out the “forever wars.”
“Under the Constitution, federal law and precedent, none of the documents are currently “classified” or “national defense information” that restricts Trump's handling of them. They are ALL his personal records and, frankly, should be returned to him.”

“It’s a political persecution like something straight out of a fascist or a communist nation,” President Trump said during a Tuesday evening speech in Bedminster, NJ. “This day will go down in infamy and Joe Biden will forever be remembered not only as the most corrupt president in the history of our country, but perhaps even more importantly as the president, who together with a band of his closest thugs, misfits, and Marxists, tried to destroy American democracy.”
“They will fail and we will win bigger and better than ever before,” he added in true Trump fashion.
Harmful or helpful persecution?
To many, this indictment seems entirely political and intended to hamstring President Trump in the upcoming election. If that is the goal, however, the opposite seems to be occurring. Immediately following the announcement of the indictment, Trump’s poll numbers rose and he now holds a 61 percent to 23 percent advantage in the latest polls over his nearest GOP challenger, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis.
The continued attacks on President Trump are reminiscent of March 1, 1815, when Napoleon was returning from exile and was on his way to France to retake control. The King of France, King Louis XVIII, was fearful of Napoleon’s return so he kept sending troops to intercept, stop, and arrest Napoleon. Undaunted, Napoleon continued his march toward France without slowing down.
As the story goes, the king only stopped sending troops when he received a letter from Napoleon himself which said, “My dear brother, it is not necessary to send me more troops. I already have enough of them!”
With the American people so disenchanted with our government, it would seem to be the case that the D.C. swamp’s disapproval and loathing of Trump is a ringing endorsement which will most likely see him back in the White House in 2024.
